Breakfast

By JJ Jones and Doris Muramatsu

When I wake up I got dreams in my head
I sit right up, and I jump out of bed
’Cause what I’ve been dreaming of are
Plates piled high
Stacked so tall that they reach the sky with

Pancakes, waffles, sausages, and bacon
I can’t wait ’til my dad will be makin’
Eggs, cereal, jam, and toast
I can’t help that what I love most
Is breakfast

I come downstairs, and it smells so good
I’m feeling very hungry
And I’m in a great mood
My dad’s in the kitchen and
Cooking up a storm
He knows what I want is to eat lots of warm

Pancakes, waffles, sausages, and bacon
I can’t wait ’til my dad will be makin’
Eggs, cereal, jam, and toast
I can’t help that what I love most
Is breakfast

He’s got the ingredients
Spread out on the counter
Pecans, flour, buttermilk
And baking powder
The griddle is hot
When he pours the batter on
It bubbles and it cooks
We have to wait so long

I love my dad, and I’m so glad
He loves me so much
He’ll make me a bunch of

Pancakes, waffles, sausages, and bacon
I can’t wait ’til my dad will be makin’
Eggs, cereal, jam, and toast
I can’t help that what I love most is
Cinnamon rolls, omelets and oatmeal
I can’t believe how good it feels
To eat fruit, yogurt, orange juice
And French toast
I can’t help that what I love most
Is breakfast!
